A new energy

As a native Western Pennsylvanian and a resident of Philadelphia, I was fortunate to attend several of the events held this week in honor of Mayor Bill Peduto and the new members of city council. One could not help but feel the energy and enthusiasm surrounding the dawn of a new day in Pittsburgh.

Particularly impressive was the youth and diversity of the masses that came to the Heinz History Center on Monday evening to celebrate the mayor. It was a remarkable 48-hour window into the “New Pittsburgh,” a rising urban hub that won’t take a back seat to any city in Pennsylvania or the United States.
