An all-loving God

In response to letter writer James Bruno who possesses the audacity and myopic ignorance to condemn the entire gay community of people with his words of hate (“Same-Sex Evil,” Jan. 7). Mr. Bruno’s reference to a vengeful God, with his astounding display of self-righteousness, is alarming.

Although not being religious but spiritual, I choose to believe in a God that is absolutely all loving. But I think that God would be equally dismayed, astounded and ashamed at these words of hate toward others of the human race. Jesus practiced and taught “do unto others,” “Love thy neighbor” and, don’t forget, “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged” — simple enough but convoluted by so many these days. Ignorance is not only bliss but becoming increasingly hateful.

Incidentally, I am a heterosexual, middle-aged happily married man (33 years) to a beautiful, intelligent woman. I simply do not believe that anyone should dictate how anyone else lives his or her life. We are all entitled to have someone to love in this life, and if two people choose to commit their relationship to marriage, then they have that right. Peace to all, not only at this time of year, but all year long.
