The Dec. 23 letter from Joe Guzzardi (“Dream Propaganda”) incorrectly describes the University of Pittsburgh as a land grant school. The Pennsylvania State University is our state’s only land grant school. The University of Pittsburgh, along with Temple University, Lincoln University and Penn State are “state-related” schools, which receive an annual appropriation from the state. Pennsylvania also operates the 14-institution state university system that includes Slippery Rock, California and Indiana universities locally.
