Impressive Wecht

Although I’ve never felt the need to write to the newspaper to express my views, I couldn’t resist doing so after meeting Dr. Cyril Wecht at a recent charity event for the worthy cause Angels Place Inc. This organization benefits the underprivileged.

Dr. Wecht, in spite of being a famous coroner, author and forensic pathologist, is so overwhelmingly humble that he gave generously of his time and energy to this event, and everyone in attendance. He happily posed for photos, signed books and answered questions, to our heart’s content.

His speech on the Kennedy assassination was captivating, to say the least. He definitely is a Pittsburgh treasure, unafraid to oppose those who agree with widely held but erroneous opinions. He presented the facts that have since been disclosed and, most of the time, hidden from disclosure by our own government.

He made the point that this case will always be important to all of us, not only because it was our president, but because the facts were hidden. We don’t want to think this could happen in our nation, even today.

It was definitely a privilege to meet and hear Dr. Wecht. My utmost gratitude and respect go out to him. We all need to appreciate his lifelong quest for the truth and passion to expose this truth for all of us.
