Politicians that can't relate

What do these members of Congress -- Tim Murphy, Pat Toomey, Mike Kelly and Keith Rothfus -- have in common? They are all white, wealthy Tea Party followers. They do not represent their constituents; they represent their special interest groups -- the people who contribute large sums of money, like the Koch brothers.

What do their followers have in common? They are 99 percent "white, blue-collar workers" living paycheck to paycheck. Some are unemployed through no fault of their own. They or someone in their families are collecting unemployment compensation; are on Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid; or are on the SNAP program or other government programs.

The above congressmen want to cut and or eliminate these and other social benefits for our citizens in need. I am trying to figure out why these followers are voting against their own interests.

Something else -- how did Ted Cruz, a Canadian-born citizen, become an American senator and what were his motives to shut down the U.S. government?
