I would not ordinarily respond to the Oct. 16 letter "I'll Be Skipping Colin Powell's Appearance Here," but when I saw the credentials of professor Dennis Jett, I could not resist. He served 28 years in the Foreign Service. He must have served those years in Tibet incommunicado.
His letter took Colin Powell over the coals for his appearance before the United Nations in which he made a case that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. He did that based on foreign intelligence sources -- which were believed by President George W. Bush and many others in his administration.
What Mr. Jett failed to say is that many Democrats in Washington echoed the same "Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction" belief, including Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and John Kerry. These and other prominent Democrats are on video forcefully saying so.
Mr. Jett knows all this, so why didn't he tell the whole story?
