Consider 'What if?'

What if the president of Syria did not deliberately order a strike on his own people with vicious and horrific gas attacks? What if the gas attacks were carried out as a deliberate and ugly tactic by Hezbollah or other enemy of the West in order to draw us into a conflict and then make things even more dangerous in that part of the world? Or, what if the gassing was done by one or more groups of Syrian rebels in order to get the United States to help in the overthrow of their tyrannical leadership?

In either of the last two cases, we could be sucked into something we could not undo -- not totally unlike the weapons of mass destruction fiasco in Iraq years ago. And we would lose even more credibility in that dangerous part of the world. Just asking, "What if?"
