Health care access

"Choose your health care as if your life depended on it." Unfortunately, this is true, and to be denied access to any of the top area doctors would be to deny us the chance of survival. When did this handful of insurance company and health care executives and members of the boards become gods? Which person on these boards has the right to pick and choose who should have access to our neighborhood hospitals?

If we are to believe UPMC's slogan, then it knows without a doubt that it is making it impossible for the people to receive the life-giving treatment they have faithfully paid for -- and deserve.

Maybe it is time we demand that hospitals and insurance companies be severed from each other. Stop the coercion and demand that the doors to all area hospitals remain open to all.
