Animal protection

It is upsetting to me that U.S. Reps. Tim Murphy and Mike Kelly voted yes on the House farm bill that includes the King amendment, which would negate so many state animal protection laws like those that protect puppies in Pennsylvania. The amendment also would repeal other state laws like those that protect the environment, workers and food safety.

The Senate has a version of the farm bill without this appalling King amendment. I think Rep. Murphy, Rep. Kelly and all of our local representatives and senators should work to support the Senate version so that this King amendment is not part of the final farm bill.
