A fine man

William T. "Jack" Simmons, the dismissed director of Shuman Juvenile Detention Center, is a fine man of the highest moral character ("Fixing Shuman: New Leadership was Needed for a Turnaround," July 31). His only purpose in working at Shuman was to help the troubled young men and women who came through his doors. I pray that Jack's removal from office is no reflection on his outstanding character and his relentless devotion to the people of Allegheny County. He will be missed.
