On June 7, I sent an email to state Rep. Mark Mustio asking him if he supported the expansion of Medicaid in Pennsylvania, pointing out that the Pennsylvania Economy League, RAND Corp. and the state's Independent Fiscal Office each recommended such an expansion.
His ready response was "I support my position which is to actively oppose expansion." Even more disappointing to me was his further comment, "The organizations you listed are irrelevant to the debate."
So my conclusion is that, to Rep. Mustio, health insurance coverage for 600,000-plus Pennsylvanians, currently without such coverage, is irrelevant. Voters in the 44th District should remember Rep. Mustio's dismissive attitude at election time.
