Pittsburgh City Councilman and mayoral nominee Bill Peduto's desire to make Downtown a "mini-Manhattan" ("Downtown 'The Region's Living Room'," June 2) was music to my ears, and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is already doing its part.
The 2012-2013 PNC Broadway Across America series was sensational. Instead of having to travel to Times Square, the city brought "War Horse," "Sister Act," "The Book of Mormon," "Jersey Boys," "Green Day's American Idiot," and more, to us.
I had already seen a few of the shows in New York, and I was wondering how well they would translate to the Pittsburgh stage. I was dazzled and delighted. The touring companies' performers deserved the standing ovations they received here each evening.
Bravo, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust! Can't wait for the 2013-2014 season.
