Where's our apology?

Former state Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin was adjudged guilty by a jury of her peers. The trial judge was understandably upset about how it reflected on the judiciary. But in issuing a "shaming" sentencing, he missed the point. The crime committed by Orie Melvin was not against the judiciary, it was against the public. Where is our letter of apology?
