Here's a thought about teaching biology. The teacher's real goal, particularly in elementary and high schools, ought to be to make students aware of how real, professional scientists practice their science. Of course, there are facts that will need to be covered, and systems of thought.
But if biology teachers take as their principal objective to show students how scientists work, then teachers will necessarily have to inform students that, theology aside, most biological research depends on the theory of evolution.
A student who enters college not knowing about evolution is like a person applying for an office job in Japan without knowing Japanese.
