I had the choice on Holy Thursday to watch the Penguins attempt to extend their win streak or spend a solemn hour or so in a black cassock and white surplice processing down the aisle at Epiphany Catholic Church in Uptown. I chose church. For almost 90 minutes I was able to escape the daily operation of my three Pittsburgh area diners and spend some time acknowledging the holiest week in the Catholic Church -- and I am glad I did!
Although only a handful of people attended, those who did witnessed a beautiful, solemn and holy event. I and about 10 other men from all walks of life took a break and sang sacred hymns as we marched around Epiphany Church. How beautiful it was for those of us who witnessed it -- and how differently I spent the 90 minutes only a stone's throw from the thousands who watched the Pens!
