No prayer ban

In regard to Gloria Thibault's Jan. 22 letter "Pray Instead," prayer was never taken out of schools. What was banned by the Supreme Court was mandatory prayers, which were always Christian prayers. It did not matter to the school administrators that there might be students of many different religions in a classroom. All students were to recite the Christian prayer. Students are now and forever able to say a prayer anytime during class time and I'm sure that every day thousands of prayers are said in schools.
