Well-armed kids

It's hard to believe that the National Rifle Association goes on with its tired old argument that guns are good, unless they end up in the hands of bad guys.

It also continues to blame media bias, videogame producers, Hollywood and music videos that glorify gun violence.

The solution, according to Wayne LaPierre of the NRA, is to place an armed official in each and every school. But why stop there?

Why not arm the children as well? Then they will truly be able to defend themselves. You never know, perhaps the armed official himself becomes a rogue actor turning on the children.

Gymnasiums could be converted to shooting ranges, and mathematics and science could be made fun understanding bullet velocities, kill ratios and trigonometric functions to sight in the bad guy.

All libraries could be renamed for Mr. LaPierre and stocked full of NRA materials on the pros of gun ownership. Perhaps corporate sponsorship will give us a Smith & Wesson reading room. And at recess, constitutional rights can be exercised by forming well-armed militias.
