Must the Democrats go it alone? Has politics become a spectator sport for Republicans? I once had the difference between Democrats and Republicans explained to me. I was told that Democrats expect their representatives to respond to and look after all of the folks in their district operating according to the wishes of the majority while Republicans let their representatives steer by their own lights, by a certain philosophy.
Of course, in the real world this doesn't exactly hold true, but at least in the distant past a voter could expect elected officials of either stripe to do their fiduciary duty. I'm a Democrat. Where are the good Republicans I used to know? Don't you think it's time you stepped up to the plate? Tell those folks you elected to the House to tax the 2 percent; that's where the money went. Those are the folks who, in effect, sold the manufacturing tax base for rags. Do you admire them so much that you're willing to let everyone (that includes you) go over the "cliff."
