Thank you so much, John Anderson of Forest Hills, for your Sept. 21 letter ("County Helped Me") about obtaining a new voter's registration card. I was worried about voting, even though my neighbor works the polls and knows I have been voting there for over 30 years! I spent two hours at the drivers license facility at Duncan Plaza, North Hills, trying to get my middle initial changed (from C. maiden name to A., as on my U.S. passport and driver's license) when in for a photo renewal this week.

Not once was calling the Allegheny County Elections Division (412-350-4500) recommended! After speaking to a representative there, I was given the Web site to download the registration form--- Section 2 pertains to name change. They will also send one out if needed.

Time is running short, please check. The voter ID law is a blatant ruse by those in power to discourage/prevent those of us in opposition from our right to vote. Is this democracy?
