Police residency

So an arbitrator ruled that the Pittsburgh police officers can live outside the city (“Arbiter Allows City Police to Live Outside City Limits,” March 14). Just let me ask the police one question: Why would you want to commute back to the city to work if you harbor negative attitudes and ill will about and toward the people you are sworn to protect?

If you are that anxious to live outside the city (specifically, the suburbs), why not get jobs out there? That way, your contact with and in the city will be slim to none.
