Alternate reality

This refers to Carol Arnfield’s letter “Can’t Justify Hatred” (Feb. 26), in which she indicated that the legislation that was pending in Arizona reminded her of Nazi Germany.

Ms. Arnfield, the Holocaust was a human tragedy and an affront to God. A propaganda ministry targeted God’s people for extermination and the German people bought it. The Nazis were clearly anti-God.

Ms. Arnfield closed her letter by evoking God’s love. That’s good, but I think she may have forgotten the America we both grew up in.

For decades a small but elite group of anti-God propagandists have “spun” an alternate reality that targets and demeans anyone who takes God seriously.

But those who remember America of 60 years ago want it and God back. In that America children read the Bible and prayed in school. The crime rates and births outside marriage were a fraction of what they are today. We didn’t kill unborn babies then and homosexuality was a shameful thing.

Ms. Arnfield, those who believe God are not the bad guys — the propaganda ministry is.
