Let’s applaud the Port Authority for installing GPS systems on its buses (“Port Authority Developing Way to Report Bus Delays to Riders,” Feb. 9). The PG reported that a week is required to analyze the data collected every single day. Here is a suggestion: Share all the data in real time with the public. Imagine if riders could actually know when their bus will arrive!
Technologically sophisticated bus riders in the community could analyze their own routes and immediately develop cell phone apps and other tools to benefit the bus-riding public. Let’s combine 21st-century technology with an open approach to using the data it collects.
