Construction update

By Joe Grata, Post-Gazette Staff Writer
Feb. 13, 2000

Interstate 80
A contractor has begun replacing the deck on an overpass near Exit 7 in Clarion County, requiring I-80 westbound traffic to be restricted to a single lane during daylight hours. The $1.3 million project is expected to last until October.

Pennsylvania Turnpike
A few lane shifts are in effect in places, but two lanes are open in both directions on the east-west mainline and the Northeast Extension. Updated information is available at (800) 331-3414, or visit www.paturnpike.com

West McMurray Road
West McMurray Road from the North Strabane-Peters line and to Donaldson’s Crossroads is closed through May 2000 for a $1 million improvement, including a left-turn standby lane to Route 19 and a new bridge over Little Chartiers Creek. The detour is via Route 19, McClelland Road and Morganza Road.

U.S. 22
Traffic is slow-moving while PennDOT builds a split-level interchange at Route 66, west of Delmont. The restrictions on the traffic "run-around" will continue through winter. Visit www.route22.penndot.state.pa.us for information on all Route 22 plans.

Route 119
PennDOT is replacing the concrete bridge on Route 119 in Crabtree. Since Route 119 is heavily used as a connector between Greensburg and Route 22 near New Alexandria, temporary signals have been installed to maintain one lane of traffic, one direction at a time. Work is to continue through spring.
