A man convicted of plotting to assassinate President Vladimir V. Putin during his recent re-election campaign was sentenced in Moscow on Tuesday to 10 years in prison. The would-be assassin, Ilya Pyanzin, was arrested last year in Ukraine. The authorities said he had planned to set a bomb on Mr. Putin's motorcade route. Mr. Pyanzin pleaded guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence, Russian news agencies reported. The case was covered extensively during the presidential campaign by state-controlled media.
