The Mon Wharf parking lot Downtown remains closed after a regionwide flood watch Thursday.

Heavy rains prompted the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, based in Moon, to issue a flood advisory Thursday for the Ohio River, which could rise to 18 feet -- the stage at which water begins to spill onto the lot. The advisory is in effect through 2 p.m. Sunday.

That prediction prompted the Pittsburgh Parking Authority to close the wharf.

The river has so far risen to 16.7 feet, but forecasters are closely watching the level, which still has the potential, but is not expected, to reach 18 feet.

The Weather Service is forecasting an 80 percent chance of rain tonight and more rain Saturday for the greater Pittsburgh area.
