Pileup closes I-79 in Erie County

A pileup involving an estimated 30 vehicles closed southbound Interstate 79 in Erie County this morning, state police at Girard said.

No serious injuries were reported in the crashes, which occurred in snowy conditions around 9:15 a.m. south of the McKean exit (Exit 174).

The highway was expected to remain closed to southbound traffic until around 2 p.m.
