An accident today on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Donegal and Irwin exits had shut down both westbound lanes for several hours and caused lengthy delays, according to Turnpike officials.

The road has since reopened.

A tractor trailer carrying corn overturned around 5 p.m. near milepost 75. The truck has been moved, and crews were clearing corn from the road, state police said.

State police said the driver was treated for minor injuries, but has since been released from the hospital.

Westbound traffic was being detoured at Donegal Exit 91. Motorists were being encouraged to find alternate routes by exiting the turnpike at Somerset Exit 110, Bedford Exit 146 or Breezewood Exit 161.

Westbound traffic was being allowed to re-enter the turnpike at New Stanton.
