Power slowly coming back in Sandy-ravaged Pennsylvania

Utility officials say more than 163,000 customers remain without power today in Pennsylvania, down from the 1.2 million outages across the commonwealth during this week's major storm.

PPL is reporting more than 57,600 customers without power, most in Lehigh and Bucks counties. FirstEnergy reports more than 40,000 outages.

Peco says 65,000 customers are without power, more than half of them in Bucks County and one-third in Montgomery County, but a spokesman said crews expect power to be restored to most by Sunday night.

State officials said Friday that 250 to 300 polling places remain without power a few days before the general election. Officials say utilities have been asked to make polling places a priority after customers such as hospitals and nursing homes. breaking - state
