Stacy Innerst is the artist. You are the caption writer.

We apologize if CapCon 223 (click on second image above to see cartoon) disturbed readers suffering from ophidiophobia, because the Caption Contest is supposed to be a happy place. Little did we realize that, according to some expert writing on Wikipedia, more than one-third of adults are afraid of snakes. This is terrible for readership. [Memo to Stacy: please, more fluffy puppies.]

Assuming you are not crippled by automatonophobia, send up to three entries to page2@post-gazette.com or mail to: Caption Contest/Portfolio, Post-Gazette, 34 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh PA 15222. Please include name and address and identify your municipality or Pittsburgh city neighborhood. Deadline: Dec. 2. Winners receive a PG umbrella that even a robot could use (to avoid rust).

Winners of CapCon 223

First Place

"OK, Clyde, but how do we dub the hand claps on the recording?"

Pat Stay, Vestaburg

Second Place

"My boyfriend says it makes me sound like I'm 20 again."

Jarrod McCowin, Beaver Falls

Third Place

The little blue pill diversifies into other markets.

Corey R. Utz, Mars
