HARRISBURG -- Jennifer Brubaker is director of the House Democratic Research Office, which state investigators raided last summer, removing several boxes of campaign documents.

Employees who worked in that office have told the Post-Gazette that campaign work was routinely done in the office and that Mrs. Brubaker asked people during interviews for state jobs whether they would be willing to work on campaigns.

Mrs. Brubaker, 35, of Camp Hill received a $17,750 bonus last year, the eighth highest in the caucus.

She is married to Scott Brubaker, who also is named as a subject in the presentment. Mr. Brubaker was forced out of his job as caucus director of staffing and administration after legislative leaders learned of his alleged involvement in the distribution of bonuses for campaign work.

The Brubakers are longtime party stalwarts who regularly donate to candidates and organize campaign fund-raisers. In 1997 the Lancaster County Democratic Party named them Democrats of the Year.

In 2002, the Web site Politics.PA.com named Mrs. Brubaker -- then secretary of the Lancaster County Democratic Party -- to its list of "rising stars" in state government.
