Green Tree Republican David Lorenzini bested Democrat Kristina Pusateri in their tied borough council race after drawing lots at the Allegheny County elections division office this afternoon.

The pair each received 497 votes Nov. 5. Pennsylvania election code decides such races by having the candidates pull numbered wooden pellets from a leather bottle. Mr. Lorenzini pulled 35 and Ms. Pusateri 9.

They were running for a seat formerly held by Democrat Ed Schenck, who was elected Green Tree mayor.

Today's win by Mr. Lorenzini, a restaurateur, is set to be certified Monday by the county Elections Board.
