A new challenger has entered the race for Allegheny County Council.

Jim Barr, 60, of West View, says he will run for county council's District 1 seat, currently held by Matt Drozd of Ross.

Mr. Drozd was defeated in May's primary election by Republican Tom Baker and says his opponent's campaign used dirty tricks to beat him. He's now backing Mr. Barr, who will run under the Constitution Party.

Mr. Barr works at a group home for adults with mental problems. He has never won an election.

He'll face Mr. Baker and Daniel McLain, Jr., who is running as a Democrat.
