Lauding the councilman's "concrete ideas" and commitment, the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers endorsed Bill Peduto Tuesday for the Democratic nomination for mayor of Pittsburgh.

So far, the competition for labor support has been a two-man race as Mr. Peduto and former state Auditor General Jack Wagner have dominated the list of union endorsements. Lining up behind Mr. Peduto earlier were groups including the Laborers District Council of Western Pennsylvania, SEIU local 32; the United Steelworkers, and AFSCME District Council 84.

Mr. Wagner has showcased official support from city workers unions including the firefighters and the Fraternal Order of Police, as well as a group of prominent building trades unions.
