The International Association of Firefighters Local 1, the Fraternal Order of Police and Pennsylvania state Sen. Jim Ferlo, D-Lawrenceville, this morning endorsed former City Council president and former state auditor general Jack Wagner for mayor of Pittsburgh.

The joint endorsements announced at a press conference are a boost to Mr. Wagner's late entry into the contest, which was thrown for a loop three weeks ago when incumbent Luke Ravenstahl announced he would not run again.

Also competing for the Democratic nomination in the May 21 primary are Council President Darlene Harris; Councilman Bill Peduto, Controller Michael Lamb, state Rep. Jake Wheatley and community activist A.J. Richardson.
