CALGARY, Alberta -- The average price for regular gasoline at U.S. pumps rose 3.07 cents in the past two weeks to $3.7225 a gallon, a 14-month high, according to Lundberg Survey Inc.
The survey covers the period ended May 2 and is based on information obtained at about 2,500 filling stations by the Camarillo, Calif.-based company.
Prices have been rising since a low Feb. 7 and are the highest since the company's March 8, 2013, survey, Lundberg said. The average is 17.678 cents higher than a year ago and up 37.66 cents since the Jan. 10 survey to start the year.
"This price increase is doomed to reverse itself now," Trilby Lundberg, the president of Lundberg Survey, said in a telephone interview Sunday. "With crude oil much lower and refineries running at very high rates producing refined product, that means more gasoline at lower prices."

Her 8-year-old brother was remembered by hundreds of people at a candlelight vigil Saturday night. Amid tears and laughter brought on by positive memories, family and friends described the boy and his sister as an inseparable pair.

The Colibri Center for Human Rights, will help people find their loved ones and track information on the dead and missing and also aims to educate people on the high number of deaths and disappearances along the southern border through research and storytelling.

Powerade drops ingredient
NEW YORK -- Coca-Cola is dropping a controversial ingredient from its Powerade sports drink, after a similar move by PepsiCo's Gatorade last year.
The ingredient, brominated vegetable oil, had been the target of a petition by a Mississippi teenager, Sarah Kavanagh, who questioned why it was being used in a drink marketed toward health-conscious athletes. The petition on Change.org noted that the ingredient is linked to a flame retardant and is not approved for use in Japan or the European Union.
