Free fitness classes for the whole family will resume Saturdays at Fox Chapel High School, 611 Field Club Road, on July 12.
Sponsored by Myofitness, a Pittsburgh-based fitness company and fitUnited, an initiative of the United Way of Allegheny County, the purpose of the classes is to improve the health of children by encouraging families to exercise together.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. From 9 to 9:50 a.m., children and adults aged 13 and older can choose between a yoga class and a flag football game. For children aged 8 to 12, there’ll be a Zombie Run.
From 10 to 10:50 a.m., there’ll be a Fitness & Fun Boot Camp for kids 8 to 12; soccer for those aged 13 and up.
From 11 to 11:50 a.m., there’ll be Athletic Sports Performance session for children aged 10 and up which will focus on strength and conditioning exercises, and teaching young people how to prevent injuries in the field. There’ll be a bootcamp for those age 13 and up.
Children under the age of 8 may participate, provided they are accompanied by an adult at all times.
