Screenings

■ Mon-Vale Health Resources is sponsoring a bone density screening from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at its Healthy Directions health resource center, Finleyville Giant Eagle, 3701 Brownsville Road, Union. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call 724-348-6699.

Seminars/lectures

■ Mon-Vale Health Resources is sponsoring “Innovations in Medicine: Leg Pain” caused by peripheral arterial disease at 6 p.m. Wednesday at its Mon-Vale HealthPLEX, 800 Plaza Drive, Rostraver, as part of an ongoing series. Presenter is vascular surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu-Hamad. To register, call 724-258-1333.

Classes/workshops

■ Mon-Vale Health Resources is sponsoring the following four-week classes:

— Childbirth preparation, 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, Mon-Vale HealthPLEX, 800 Plaza Drive, Rostraver. To register, call 724-258-2229 ext. 9.

— Smoking cessation, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning next Tuesday, Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll. Cost: $20, free for Primary Care Resource Center patients, MVH employees and anyone with a referral from an MVH-affiliated primary care physician. Space is limited, and registration is required. ■ The Allegheny County Health Department is sponsoring a food protection certification course from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15 at Penn Hills High School, 309 Collins Drive.
