Special events

■ Touch Art, an inclusive art-making program with the blind community, is sponsoring an art accessibility seminar for educators and administrators from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 16 in Simmons Hall of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 6300 Fifth Ave., Shadyside. The seminar will feature a short video documentary of the Touch Art process by filmmaker Keith Tassick; a panel discussion with artists and educators who are blind, visually impaired and sighted; and an opportunity to view the artwork and interact with participants. Seminars/lectures

■ AIM, a collaboration of Jewish Family & Children's Service and Jewish Residential Services, which provides support for families of individuals with special needs, is presenting "Resiliency and Coping: Strategies Among Family Members" from 6 to 8 p.m. next Monday at the JF&CS offices, 5743 Bartlett St., Squirrel Hill. Speaker is Wendy Levin-Shaw, psychotherapist at JF&CS's Squirrel Hill Psychological Services. Included is a light kosher meal at 6 p.m. Registration is required. Classes/workshops

■ Allegheny Valley Hospital is offering a class in basic life support for health care providers, including CPR certification renewal, from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 14 at its Destination Wellness health resource center, the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, 590 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Frazer. Fitness events

■ The Westminster Recreation & Outreach Center at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road, is sponsoring open adult athletic sessions from 8:10 to 10 p.m. The cost is $25. Call 412-835-6630, ext. 207.

-- Basketball, Mondays and Thursdays from tonight to April 28. No sessions on April 14 and 17.

Fitness classes/clinics

■ Monroeville Recreation & Parks Department is offering six weeks of "Aquacise" classes from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturdays beginning Saturday in the Sports Complex of Gateway High School, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. Cost is $40. To register, call 412-856-1006.

Special opportunities

■ The Woodlands Foundation, which assists adolescents with disabilities, is sponsoring winter/spring sessions of its Building Lifestyles for Ongoing Opportunities & Movement transition program from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Saturday and Jan. 18, Feb. 8 and 15, March 1 and 8, April 12 and 26, and May 3 and 10.
