Special events

■ Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll, is hosting a Light-Up Night at 6:30 tonight in its Central Plaza. It will include a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources will be selling baked goods and raffle tickets for decorative Christmas items in the main lobby. Charity events

■ The Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene, 108 Reed Ave., Rostraver, is sponsoring a blood drive and spaghetti dinner from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The cost for the dinner is $5. Proceeds benefit a parishioner. Call 724-243-3799.

■ The Pittsburgh Mercy Health System is sponsoring its annual Reindeer Ball from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Westin Convention Center, 1000 Penn Ave., Downtown. ■ Excela Health Hospice is sponsoring an Italian Christmas dinner event at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Rizzo's Malabar Inn, 126 Rizzo Road, Salem. Included are Rizzo's Italian cuisine, a glass of house wine and a jar of Rizzo's homemade sauce. Also to be offered are raffle baskets and a silent auction for a private dinner for six to eight at Rizzo's prepared by Rizzi DeFabo. The cost is $50, and the deadline is next Monday. ■ The Arthritis Foundation is sponsoring its annual Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk for Arthritis at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 on Art Rooney Avenue, near Heinz Field, North Shore. Orthopedic surgeon Freddie Fu is this year's medical honoree, and WTAE-TV's Janelle Hall is serving as mistress of ceremonies. The Arthritis Foundation is offering a $5-off discount code for registrants through Saturday, with the discount code "turkey."
