The North Hills school board Thursday rejected the 2014-15 budget of the A.W. Beattie Career Center.
Jeffrey Meyer, Lou Nudi, Ed Wielgus and Michael Yeomans opposed the plan, while Arlene Bender, Joe Muha and Kathy Reid voted in favor of the budget. Tom Kelly and Annette Giovengo Nolish abstained.
Those opposing the budget cited the 11 percent increase in expenditures over the current budget, and complained that they didn’t get any details about why the budget increased so much.
“I am truly devastated by this board, and I am also embarrassed,” said Ms. Bender, one of the district’s representatives on the Beattie board.
The Beattie budget has to be approved by six of the nine participating school districts, and more than half of the individual board members from those districts.
