Seneca Valley School District entered into a $26,061 contract with Naviance, an online college readiness company.

School board members at their meeting tonight approved a three-year agreement with the Arlington, Va., company to provide college and career exploration software to the district.

Senior High School Principal Mark Korcinsky said the software will allow parents to access their child’s records and career-planning tools at any time.

Mr. Korcinsky said one of the main features of Naviance will be the ability to send student transcripts electronically to colleges. Currently, paper transcripts are generated and mailed. He said the program also identifies scholarships the student may qualify for after an online profile is generated.

He said Naviance offers other online support that can be used by students in grades 7 through 12. He said that includes more than 1,000 video interviews with people in various professions.

Administrators say it will be available to students next school year.
