The Seneca Valley School board approved the 2014-15 school calendar at tonight’s meeting.

The first day for pupils will be Aug. 25 and the school year is set to end on June 5.

District spokeswoman Linda Andreassi said there will be 178 pupil instruction days next school year. This is one more than this school year. She said teachers asked for more time with pupils.

Superintendent Tracy Vitale said they also tried to get as many instruction days in as possible before pupils take the Keystone exams. The Keystone exams are scheduled for December, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education website.
