The Mars Area School District could save $30,000 a year by using an online application system.

The school board Tuesday approved the district's enrollment in, an online system that warehouses applications of educators seeking employment.

The annual cost is $2,375, but Superintendent William Pettigrew said they will save much more than that by not advertising every position.

Mr. Pettigrew said they will still have to advertise some specialty teaching positions, such as languages, but will not have to advertise every elementary and secondary position.
