Though the bureau of police issued a revised policy on secondary employment Friday, the police union’s president says it wasn’t properly implemented and that enforcement and discipline will “be considered a grave unfair labor practice and strenuously fought.”
According to the Fraternal Order of Police’s contract, the union must be notified and provided with a copy of additions or changes to rules and regulations, at least 15 days prior to implementation. FOP president Sgt. Michael LaPorte said in an email to membership that the most recent revision received by the union is dated Oct. 31.
Public safety director Michael Huss could not be reached for comment Friday night.
