A meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Jewish Community Center, 5738 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill, for public input about alternative locations for temporary classroom trailers in Frick Park. The trailers were placed in a picturesque meadow near the Blue Slide Playground during construction of the new Environmental Center earlier this fall, prompting a petition by about 200 people who use the park.
City Councilman Corey O’Connor said city officials and educators from the center toured the park recently to identify more suitable sites. One to be considered is a former volleyball court next to the Sam Letterman baseball field. He said smaller trailers can be used so they could be maneuvered up hills.
The public is invited to propose other sites, he said, adding that the meeting will include an update about the design of the new environmental center.
