A Beaver County man must spent 5 1/2 to 20 years in a Pennsylvania prison in the shaking death of his 2-month-old daughter in July 2012.
The Beaver County Times reported Robert Heibert, 29, of Beaver, was sentenced Wednesday.
Heibert pleaded guilty in July to voluntary manslaughter, when he acknowledged shaking and spanking Melanie Alexander before she died.
Investigators determined the girl died of severe brain trauma after Heibert told police he shook the crying child with such force that her chin struck her chest in a whiplash-like motion.
The baby's mother was gone at the time and, rather than call 911, Heibert called her and used a computer to look up how to perform CPR on the girl.
