Some in the western suburbs experienced a disruption in their water service today.

PA American Water customers in Collier, Hanover, Midway, South Fayette and Robinson in Washington County experienced a water outage caused by a 24-inch water main break, said Gary Lobaugh, external affairs manager in Western Pennsylvania.

A fire hydrant fix earlier in the day had also cut some customers' service in Collier.

Both repairs took longer than expected, Mr. Lobaugh said.

Customers in higher elevations may have experienced a "low- or no-pressure" situation, he said.

An unknown number of customers were impacted, he said.
