McDonald council voted tonight to advertise an ordinance that would charge utility and construction companies $60 per hour for borough police to direct traffic.
The issue has been at the forefront lately as gas, water and sewage projects have been ongoing throughout town. Work has required road and lane closures, and sometimes has caused the downtown traffic light to malfunction.
Councilman Ray Miller said other municipalities also charge fees for police traffic control.
