Hollow Road bridge to close
PennDOT is announcing a $1.8 million project to repair the bridge that carries Hollow Road (Route 551) over McCaughtry Run in Darlington Township, Beaver County, will begin on Monday, June 24, weather permitting.
The project includes substructure repairs, deck replacement and other improvements on the Route 551 bridge between McCaughtry Run Road and Wallace Drive.
To allow the work to occur, Route 551 will be closed in the bridge area around-the-clock from 7 a.m. on June, 24 through late August. About 1420 vehicles use this area of Route 551 on an average day. Local residents are encouraged to find alternate routes. Thru-traffic will be detoured using the following routes:
· From Route 551, turn right Second Street/Elmwood Boulevard (Route 168)
· Bear left onto New Galilee Road (Route 4005)
· Turn left onto Crescent Drive (Route 351)
· Follow Crescent Drive back to Route 551
· End detour
· Same detour in opposite direction
The prime contractor for the project is Allison Park Contractors, Inc. of Allison Park, PA.
Scrubgrass Road section closes
A section of Scrubgrass Road has been closed for a $718,720 project to replace a metal arch culvert between Main Street/Kane Boulevard/Old Bower Hill Road and Swallow Hill Road.
The road closing means traffic is being diverted onto Greentree and Swallow Hill roads. The detour is expected to remain in effect until late August.
The project also involves minor approach work, drainage improvements, utility relocations and pavement markings.
The road is open for local traffic only. About 13,325 vehicles use this area of Scrubgrass Road on an average day.
Mele & Mele & Sons, Inc. is the prime contractor.
