Oakdale will not reconsider a proposal to build a shopping plaza and Dollar General store on the former Joy dog food factory site on Union Avenue.
Instead, property owner Tom Robinson will sell the land, and borough officials will help find a buyer interested in building a medical center or senior citizens community, council president Ron Gamble said tonight.
Mr. Gamble said that he met with Mr. Robinson yesterday and with council last week to discuss the issue.
"We [council members] are in unison, and we believe that 90 percent of the people in Oakdale are behind us, that we do not want another commercial operation in Oakdale," Mr. Gamble said.
